I was born and raised in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. I am an only child, but my parents kept me very active as a child with community events, visiting the library, sports, and more! My parents still live in Manitowoc and I try to visit with them often! I graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School in June 2006.
In September 2006 I began studying elementary education and special education at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. In the spring semester of 2010 I moved back to Manitowoc to complete my students teaching within the Manitowoc Public School District. My first placement was teaching second grade in a co-taught SAGE classroom at Jefferson Elementary. My second placement was teaching cross-categorical special education to grades 4-6 at Madison Elementary. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point in May 2010 with a bachelors of science in elementary education and special education.
In August 2010 I joined the staff at Jacob Shapiro Brain Based Instruction Laboratory School in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. I began teaching students with cognitive disabilities in grades kindergarten thru second. I held this position for two years. During my third year of teaching my title was changed to a cross-categorical special education teacher and I worked with students in grades 1-3.
During the summer of 2013 I changed my teaching position from special education to become a first grade classroom teacher.
In January 2015 I began working toward my master's degree in literacy and language. I am currently attending the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh and working toward a degree as a reading teacher.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends! I also enjoy spending time outdoors, cooking and baking, watching movies, shopping and cheering for the Green and Gold! On July 18, 2015 I married my amazing husband Rick! We bought our first house together in August, and we are busy making it our home!
