Terrific Tuesday!

Today in math students participated in activities to review counting strategies, addition strategies and combinations to make five or ten.  Tomorrow in math we will explore number stories.  Students are also using the online Dreambox program to increase their math skills.  Information to log-on to Dreambox from home was sent, and students are encouraged to being using this program at home for extra practice!

Today in phonics we continued to practice using the beginning letter sound to identify words.  Tomorrow we will continue to practice names of our classmates by identifying the number of syllables in names.

Today in writer's workshop we read the book Ralph Tells a Story.  This story was about a boy who had trouble finding things to write about, until his classmates helped him discover that stories are everywhere!  Anytime your family does something special, or something funny happens at home, remind your child that they can write a small moment story about it!

During reading time students have learned how to read to self, write about their thinking while reading, and read with a partner.  Today we began a new station to listen to reading.  Each day the goal is for all students to rotate through three reading stations.

Today we talked about winter.  Tomorrow we will be discussing spring!

Remember, every Wednesday our class visits the library.  Your child can check out two books each week!
