Welcome back!!!

I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable spring break!  From what the students shared they enjoyed their time off!  I spent lots of time working on assignments for my graduate classes, wedding planning, and did find some time to relax!

Here is a quick preview of what we are working on this week:

*Math - We began a new Fosnot unit about measurement.  The students are currently working in partners and using connecting cubes to measure lengths of paper.  As the week goes on the students will be encouraged to use more sophisticated measurement strategies.

*Science - We are reviewing the states of matter.  We are also doing some edible experiments, such as melting chocolate (solid to liquid) and shaking cream to make butter (liquid to solid).

*Writing - Yesterday all students wrote a thank you letter to the staff at the Building for Kids Children's Museum.  Today we will begin our last piece of opinion writing, which will be a book review.  Ask you child which book they are writing about!

*Phonics - We are reviewing what we have learned about long and short vowel sounds.

If you child is participating in the Timber Rattler's reading program, please make sure you send back the order form for tickets.  Also, your child should have turned in three 'Fangs' by now.
