Week of 4/25

It's hard to believe it's already the last week of April!

This week in math we will wrap up unit 8.  Students will be introduced to fractions.  Students need to know how to divide shapes into halves and fourths.  On Friday students will take their end of unit assessment.

Students will get their new weekly spelling words on Monday.  This week during phonics lessons we will also discuss word endings, digraphs, and consonant clusters.

During writer's workshop students will continue to write their realistic fiction stories.

During social studies we will compare maps and globes.  We will also explore atlases and begin to discuss land forms.

Students will participate in independent and partner stations during reader's workshop.  As a class we will read books and practice summarizing stories.  During reader's workshop I will be assessing students for our end of year PALS (phonological awareness literacy screening).
